FAQs

How can I know if grinding or polishing is needed?

It all depends on the end result and floor space needs. A floor can be grinded up to 400 grit (Level 1), and the polished up to 3000-grit. But a 3000grit polished floor might not be ideal for a mechanic maintenance bay but it’s perfect for an art gallery. We can determine that with a site visit or on a brief phone call with one of our sales reps.

How quickly can I walk and use my floor space?

The final sealer is dry to the touch in 2 hours, and you can walk the floor in 4 hours. You can’t clean it with any solvents or water until the 24hr curing is finalized. All of our chemicals are zero-VOC and LEED certified..

What is the proces of polishing a floor ?

We start with a sample area to be sure the diamond pads that we are using are appropriate for the hardness or softness of your floor.

We normally suggest that we repair any cracks and holes in the beginning to be able to provide a better-looking repair. Repairs made after the polishing process do tend to leave a ghost mark of the orbital sander.

Cut, clean, and fill any joints (if quoted), as a general rule of thumb this needs to be done before the grinding process.

Grind the floor with the previously selected diamond pads (determined by the sample) up to 200-grit.

Apply densifier and the selected stain (if priced, and needs to be previously approved on the sample phase)

Start with the polishing process with 400 grit pads up to 800 this process will give a satin/low shine with some reflection

Complete the polishing process using a 1,500, and 3,000 grit resin pads so that we can provide a durable gloss finish.

And we finally use a burnisher with the appropriate pads and sealers and get that high reflective shine.
